# Ingredient List:

→ Cheese

02 - 4 slices cheddar cheese or preferred melting cheese

03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# Directions:

01 - Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for 3 minutes.
02 - Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
03 - Place two slices of bread buttered side down on a clean surface and top each with two slices of cheese.
04 - Cover with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up, to form sandwiches.
05 - Place sandwiches in the air fryer basket without overlapping.
06 - Air fry for 4 minutes at 350°F (180°C).
07 - Carefully flip sandwiches and air fry for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
08 - Remove sandwiches, allow to cool briefly, slice, and serve immediately.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The air fryer creates this impossibly crispy exterior that somehow stays crunchy even after the cheese has melted completely
  • It is secretly foolproof even for people who burn everything because the temperature control does the work for you
  • You can make two sandwiches at once without overcrowding the pan or managing multiple burners
02 -
  • The butter must be fully softened or you will rip holes in the bread trying to spread it and the cheese will leak through during cooking
  • Do not skip the preheat step or the first side will not seal properly and your sandwich might fall apart when you flip it
03 -
  • If your cheese is not melting all the way through but the bread is already dark try lowering the temperature to 170°C and cooking for a minute longer
  • Place a small piece of parchment paper under the sandwiches for easier cleanup but make sure it is cut smaller than the basket so air can still circulate
